McDonalds, helping or price gouging?

In an effort to conserver water, the Marion McDonalds is only serving drinks in cans. What the fail to tell you is you will be charged the same price. For example, I paid $1.29 for a semi-cold 12oz can of pop, and they charged me $1.79 for 2 12 oz cans of Sprite for my kids. And in case your wondering, no, the proceeds of their massive markup will not be donated to flood victims, I called and asked.

Anonymous is correct. The price for a fountain soda far less than a can of soda. Fountain drinks cost on the order of cents per cup vs more than $.25/can. Why do you think they sell the soda syrup by the gallon and we never see cans in restaurants?

well its mcdonalds, there the ones that charge you $.15 per sauce packet when they get them for $.2 a pice. then they limit what you can have after 11pm to the food that is more expensive

Anonymous - you are incorrect. Lets say they send Bob across the street to the convenience store to pick up some cases of pop. A 24 pack of Coke runs $5.99 deposit tax, roughly $7.55, bringing the cost per can to .32, almost $1 profit per can.

Their cost for a can of pop is much larger than it is for fountian pop so they are not making more profit from this.

Pretty typical..I wonder if this is a franchise or national chain. Coming from mcyd's who has helped my family with the ronald mcdonald house when i was very ill, it would surprise me if this was the national chain.
