This is how much the water changed on J Street just south of 33rd Avenue from Thursday morning to Friday evening. We live close to here and it was shocking to see these businesses under water! These areas were part of the 500-year flood plain. However, as in the rest of the city, the water went much further. Notice the yellow sign in the pictures as a marker for water movement; that is Cedar Bend Tire. In the last picture it's a narrow yellow line above the water. The first RR crossing is about 1/2 block south of 36th Avenue and the second RR crossing sign is at Hawkeye Downs Road.
Taken Thursday 6/12, 11AM. We were able to park near the Cedar Bend Tire sign.
