Amana's famous millrace built in the 1860s to divert water from the Iowa River was recently restored in order to generate hydroelectric power seven miles downstream in the village of Amana. The photos show how that work has been destroyed by the flood waters which completely inundated the millrace, breaching the 140 year old historic structure in numerous places and completely submerging it in others.
