The senior class at Burlington High School came up with a dance routine to take part in a tradition. After performing this act we received tons of praise from the student body and many teachers as well as parents. They all believed it was enjoyable and just plain funny. But, as with all good things, there were a few naysayers who bombarded the school with concerns. They said the dance was too provocative, but there has been overwhelming support for the senior boys. The main reason for this is that we all want to protect the teacher who supervised the dance. Her name is Mrs. Annette Mosbach and she is one of the most caring individuals you could ever meet. Her only goal at this point is to protect the dancers, but we do not want her to face any punishment for we feel this is not worth losing a job/pay over. Here is the link to the video, you may do with it as you please. But note, this isn't against the routine, it is against punishment being applied towards a bunch of high standing young men who decided to perform a comedic dance routine for their fellow peers (who were screaming so loud you couldn't hear the music). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=guhAvf213Hw&feature=youtube_gdata_player

Negativity is a waste of energy....glad to be an Iowan and proud of these kids for having the guts to do this in front of their peers....it will be a lesson in confidence and self esteem actually USED in their futures.

One word...distasteful.

I didn't see anything wrong with this performance by this group of teenagers! If parents really want to have their eyes opened you should see how the kids dance at prom, homecomings, and other SCHOOL APPROVED dances. I hope this teacher ISN'T fired!!

I thought it was horrible. No dance moves at all. I was on a male dance team and we actually had a dance and had to practice. This was just pathetic, couldnt even watch it all. Thought it was going to be entertaining but not at all.

I just wanted to put out irony: Amanda wrote, "Besides most people being negitive need to check all their spelling errors. It's bad." It's spelled negative. Unfortunately you chose to misspell in a sentence criticizing others' spelling. Nice.

I was in dance for 15 years. When you are GIVEN outfits to "keep ahead of the game" and taught dance moves; you didnt object. It's the generation, please calm down. Besides most people being negitive need to check all their spelling errors. It's bad.

I can honestly say, it is not worse than any dance team/cheerleading routine I have seen over the past several years. Search for those routines...And the Girls are wearing a LOT less!!!

If the boys wanted it to be more sexual they would of put way more effort into this dance routine..I can tell they were just trying to be funny! Two of the most talked about things this year 50 Shades of Grey and Magic Mike..

What's really wrong is that parents of these kids don't think anything is wrong with the dance... Out of school, somewhat funny to some...in school, highly inappropriate. Just because it's approved by some of the public doesn't make it right...

It couldn't be more obvious... we are living in the days where what is wrong is touted to be right and what is right is touted as wrong. Don't expect the morally decrepit to aspire until their hearts change. Just stay strong. It will be worth it!

quit your B****ING and get over it, i bet your kids have seen worse

I am a high school principal in Iowa and would not approve this in our building. I would have stopped the routine.

As a parent of a senior(not at this school), I am glad that these boys were willing to "put on a show," However, I think they could have used their talent and brains better. The dance moves are inappropriate for a school function. Mixed thoughts!

Thank you Burlington for raising such outstanding young men, who are now adding to our over-sexualized culture by performing a striptease in front of families and fellow classmates. Shame on you!

My high school banned student skits for 4 years for something similar, so congrats to you all for pushing your little boundaries in front of children. You certainly cost your fellow classmates, among others, any chance to entertain at future games.

There is nothing wrong with a bunch of high school kids having a little fun. People just need to get over it.

It was fine. If your a prude, don't watch it.

Very enjoyable if not a bit dated. If you're complaining, you have a wretched life and are probably not very pleasant to be around. Too bad your friends haven't been brave enough to say it to your face.

Watched the video and I am thrilled my son does not attend this school. I thought it was very inappropriate.

I am a teacher at BHS and I have to say that there wasn't a lot of screaming and the majority of the teachers thought it was very inappropriate. There wasn't anything that was funny. Teachers even walked out.

Anyone who thinks this was just innocent fun obviously has no moral character. That was obviously obscene and if those boys were being instructed to do that by a female teacher, then I'd be checking into that situation too. Definitely not ok!

As a proud BHS graduate I say "ROCK ON GUYS"
says ... on Monday, Mar 18 at 3:43 AM
I watched the video on YouTube, and I don't see anything that's any worse than some cheerleading or dance routines done by girls. When society pushes inapropriate clothing, behavior, commercials, etc., on the teens, what do you expect? Angels?
says ... on Sunday, Mar 17 at 5:35 PM
This looks like a stripper dancing, not high school guys. My opinion is that it is very inapproriatie!!
says ... on Sunday, Mar 17 at 12:28 PM
I wouldn't argue the teacher is well liked and respected, but well liked and respected teachers can make mistakes, too. This was not appropriate for school. I'm sure a quick read through the student handbook would support that.

On the surface it seems innocent enough. personally I found it rather stupid and not well done. Seems they threw it together in 5 min. But it is true that there are sexual overtones through the whole "movement." NOT acceptable!

Embarrassed ?? No. Actually live out of town and proudly told friends about this. I and my daughters graduated from BHS and all the furor is ridiculous. I remember the furor over silly dragon boat shirts
says ... on Wednesday, Mar 13 at 6:24 PM
I only see people's optimistic thoughts, I am sure the pessimistic thoughts are not posted. Honestly I am am embarrassed to even walk in the school. You people who think this is ok, do you think it would be ok if this was your daughter or niece?
says ... on Wednesday, Mar 13 at 8:40 AM
People need to stop finding bad in everything, humerous or whatever they think. WHO CARES! It is senior boys having fun, it is nice that a school tries to do something to cause some excitement in schools. GET OVER IT PEOPLE.

This Group of boys are celebrating youth, and entertaining and being funny for their fellow classmates ...I hope this attention helps them all to remember these times in their lives, how they felt at this moment... Go Senior class of 2013-Good luck!

I think the whole thing has been blown way out of proportion!!! My daughter goes to BHS and I can tell you there is alot more pressing issues then some kids dancing that need to be addressed. Mrs. Mosbach is respected by the students and parents!!!
says ... on Tuesday, Mar 12 at 5:21 PM
I have watched the video and I don't see anything but a group of boys putting on a funny show for their classmates. Everyone needs to let it go and go on with their lives!
says ... on Tuesday, Mar 12 at 4:29 PM
I myself watched the video and have a sophomore going to BHS and also have to adult kids who went there also, I personally have seen nothing wrong with this video and the way they performed.
