Storm Damage In Lamont

The actual town of Lamont went untouched from the tornado. It was the rain during and afterwards that turned this small community into a soup bowl. Many houses and businesses had windows missing and thousands of dollars worth of damage because of the water flowing through. The state patrol and county sheriffs were going door to door telling people to evacuate their homes. This is one thing that no one expected from such a small crick. Rodney and Brandon Cornwell both stated that the little crick looked as large as the Mississippi River by the time the rain stopped. There are very few basements without water in them. The community as well as the Red Cross are working together to try and clean things up so this community can get back on it's feet. More help is always needed and volunteers would be much appreciated by many homeowners in the area.

actually the lamont fire department was helping out by buying pumps for people to use and giving them anything else people needed like renting power washers for people. they were there for everyone and still are!

The response, communication by community officials.FEMA etc in Lamont has been an absolute FEMA/Katrina like joke. Lamont city officals way of letting town residents know FEMA is in town taking names and #'s? WORD OF MOUTH. No joke.

the small volunteer dept, like most on the holiday weekend, used the few people they had available to attend to the most at risk, which would include that sr. complex by the park. Put the FDNY in town and there still would have been no stopping it.
