Boy Scout Troop 37, chartered out of the Shueyville Methodist Church, adopted a family from the Willis Dady Shelter. The scouts collected money for gifts, food for meals, and household items for a family that was able to move into a home. Last night, the scouts delivered the items to the family. The family was overjoyed to receive all the items. And the scouts were filled with the holiday spirit to see the family's response.
Community service is one of the principles that scouting is based on. Troop 37 performs over 8 projects a year. This experience provides the young adults with a sense of helping others and the spirit of giving.
