This Barred Owl came to hang out in the trees in our front yard for a few days a couple weeks ago. He seemed hungry so my husband tied a slip knot with string on a hot dog and tossed it out the window. He then pulled it across the ice, trying to duplicate a mouse. The owl pounced on it in a flash and ate it up. Our owl was uninterested in the one offered the next day. He sure didn't mind having his picture taken. He seemed to rest up for a few days then was seen flying over the fields out back.
