We were sitting this evening at the table when I heard the birds at the feeder take off in a hurry; I thought "something spooked them" when my husband said, "look at the hawk". I thought he meant it flew by, but it stayed on the railing and later on the fence for several minutes. We think it is a young Cooper's Hawk.
