I am a retired college professor from New York who has found true happiness in Iowa (in Peosta, specifically). I have an observatory with two fixed telescopes, a Celestron 11" SCT and a Celestron 8" SCT (for you astronomy buffs). I have been photographing the sky since 1976 through many different telescopes and cameras.
I took 76 photos of the Venus transit that just occured and this is the first processed. It was taken with the 8" telescope at f/11 with a Nikon D5100 camera body at 1/80 second on June 5, 2012 at 6:10 CDT through clear skies.
