Last night’s snowfall gave the lucky few the great opportunity to go out and capture its beauty. For this type of scene I turn off the color and work strictly in black and white. This way I capture line, shape, and a large grayscale in the photo. I was drawn to this tree by the bottom branch arching out, dipping, then finishing the arch perfectly. As my eye moved through the shapes I noticed that the overall shape of the tree looks like it is being blown in that same direction. Stepping out and looking at the overall scene the tree line seems to be following this one particular tree. The deep blacks and the high lights give the light grays on the grounds shape and depth to the entire photo, not to mention how it adds to the interested of the sky.
