SSGT Pameticky entered the Iowa NG in 1929 at the age of 16, (records indicate a birthdate of March 13, 1911, and actual date was March 11, 1913) he first deployed with the 133rd to N. Ireland February of 1942. Soon he returned to the US to join the 30 ID 120th infantry as an intelligence NCO in HQ due his ability to speak German. He won two bronze stars and two purple hearts for actions in Normandy and the Germany campaigns with 120th. While preparing for Normandy invasion he met and married (in 1946) Ivy Scott a corporal in the RAF at Tangmere RAF Fighter Base. They met in the Prince of Wales Pub in Bognor Regis playing darts prior to the invasion in June. Francis retired from the Iowa National Guard as Warrant officer in 1955.
