There were probably 100 dragonflies flying approximately 1 foot off the ground in our back yard this evening. I had watered the grass last night and thought perhaps they were feeding on smaller insects that had been attracted to the area or were emerging. Sometimes the flies would lightly collide after what appeared to be a pursuit. This continued for at least a half hour.

I understand this may be a sign of global warming as dragon flies are very sensitive to temp. change. They have supposedly moved North to escape drought and the summer heat in the South. Not sure about the validity but it is a strange event.
