We saw this strange cloud formation outside of town last week. It looks like the cloud hit a ceiling.

In actuality it is. It's a towering cumulonimbus getting stalled by Cap. Cap: A layer of relatively warm air aloft (usually several thousand feet above the ground) which suppresses or delays the development of thunderstorms.
