I called the Red Cross in Dubuque today around noon to see if I could help anyone affected by the flooding. I was the first one to call and offer to volunteer. They told me to contact City Hall as well as the fire department in East Dubuque; each of them also said that I was the first one to offer to volunteer. Even though it is the middle of the week and we all have to work, I thought there would have at least been a few people that would have offered to volunteer to help. I was very surprised to hear that not one person had offered to help. I also contacted Bellevue and they gave me a name of an older woman that had a lot of damage done to her home. I called and talked to her and she said that her and her family had it under control, but they were very grateful for the offer. I was disappointed that I wasn't able to help anyone, but I'm glad they have it all under control.
