My husband and myself woke up to the sirens on July 11, 2011! Usually we are not good about going to the basement, but on this occasions I got there rather quickly and was waiting for Dave to get to the basement. Things became scary rather quickly, as in the basement we had a rain down of sparks and a tree hit the house as Dave was attempting to move his way through the house. Our house filled with smoke in the basement and upstairs. Fire department came and checked things out--all electrical appliance were fried---ugh. Our electrical line was also torn off the house so to make matters worse the power returned and we had sparks flying all over the back of our house--fire department called again. To make a long story short, we are currentlly using a generater and living in our makeshift bedroom (livingroom) and are in the process of getting things up and running again. Could take a bit as our house needs to be rewired and we will be needing new appliances more than likely. And all new electronics. Quick but bad storm.
This is my sons car under our tree. He just returned state side this week from Afghanistan. Good thing, some how it came out alright--he is lucky!
