Attached are some photos of a pelican that showed up in Stone City, IA on the Wapsipinicon River on Sunday April 24th… He\She has been there ever since swimming along about a half mile stretch of the river. I am not sure if this is a normal sight in Iowa, but I have never seen one on the Wapsi… Just wanted to share. Thanks!!

Large flocks of pelicans are not uncommon in Iowa. They can be seen on migration, around Tama, Lake Red Rock, Swan Lake, even Cedar Lake right in Cedar Rapids.

I've seen flocks of them on the Iowa River where 965 crosses it - they don't STAY here, but they come through and rest on their migration route.
