The power of the supercell thunderstorm in western Iowa Saturday night, April 9, 2011, was evident with vivid and incessant discharges of cloud-to-cloud lacy lightning. The fact that all but one of our ten sighted tornadoes spawned after dark is also a testament to this. These photos were taken on Lee Avenue near US Highway 20 about 3 miles SE of Early, Iowa.
