Several lower clouds were moving at an angle to the main storm but no upper cloud rotation was observed. It also was on the trailing edge of the storm.

This was a scud cloud. I am an advance NWS storm spotter with 32 year NWS training, 28 credit hours of Meteorology and a science teacher. My son spotted this cloud and we followed it for for over 15 minutes. I reported hail and the scud cloud.

FYI.. There was rotation visable to the naked eye. Also, to the back side, a funnel cloud formed for 30 sec, dropped within several hundred feet of the ground, then went back up.

But it's still a scud cloud that just looks like, and makes the average person think that it's a funnel cloud or tornado but awesome pic anyway!

This is probably a scud cloud , although a funnel or tornado does not have to be tight and can have very irregular shapes. I have seen all types . Although I do not see a wall cloud although this is sometimes hidden by lower hanging clouds

Looks like scud clouds to me and not a tornado if it was a tornado it would've had a tighter smoother shape not all the rough bumpy edges

These picks were taken looking north of Williamsburg. It started as a scud cloud, forming quickly into this. It lasted less than five min. until it became rain wrapped. Hail briefly followed.
