Beings my husband is on the volunteer fire department, I like to take pictures for them so they can have them to put in a scrapbook for later. The fire was in downtown Columbus Junction on March 26, 2011. Looks like we lost 3 buildings which housed an office, shop and apartments. Possible water/smoke damage to 2 others? CJ was assisted by the Wapello Fire Dept (who brought their aerial truck) and Conesville FD. Tragically, at least one person perished in the blaze. Believe at least some trucks were on the scene for 12 hours. We are very lucky to have such a great volunteer fire department and surrounding area departments who come to our aid.
