"Hallelujah" is considered a joyful word of praise to God. Isn't that what we should foucs on and beauty of what the singers brought to many people listening during this Christmas season. Nothing else really matters about the how or what it was.

Why all the negativity? It’s Christmas!! Who cares if this isn’t a traditional flash mob, or if they used sheet music, or if someone directed them? They were trying to bring Christmas cheer to holiday shoppers - SO STOP HATING!

To those of you with your negative comments... YOU ARE MISSING TH WHOLE POINT AND YOU JUST DON'T GET IT!!!!!
says ... on Tuesday, Dec 21 at 5:54 PM
Don't let morons who can't even spell concern you with their drivel about what constitutes a flash mob; same for those who don't know enough about the piece to realize why some would use music to sing it. Nothing beats being there. Their loss.

I am sad that there are several negative comments when the point was just to bring Christmas joy to the shoppers at Lindale. There was no alterior motive. If I had been able to be there I'd have been one of them. It was beautifully done :)

VERY nice!!! Merry Christmas to all who brought such lovely music and some fun to folks shopping in the mall. To those being curmudgeons about the whole thing...may God bless you, you need all the help you can get!

I seen this clip on the news and thought and still think it was awesome! Spreading the Christmas cheer is all they were doing planned or not. So sorry so many have negative thoughts on this. Your voices were beautiful - God gave you this talent. TY.

Hell0 -- this is nothing but a copy-cat attempt!! Nothing special about it!!
says ... on Tuesday, Dec 21 at 9:08 AM
A famous Youtube video from November 13th makes the Lindale Mall event look like a copy cat. But live performances are always enjoyable, and surprise adds to the fun. Besides, many shoppers may not have seen the earlier video, so it was new to them.

OMG people!! Who cares if it was properly called or not, that's a far cry from the bigger picture. Is it really THAT hard to just see some things for what they are? Your frozen when your heart's not open. To those that did this..WONDERFUL/BEAUTIFUL!

dumb
says ... on Tuesday, Dec 21 at 2:59 AM
I can't believe this is even getting negative comments... we had every intentions of it being a flash mob... but so many people want to participate and spread holiday cheer it ended up being, yes a group who volunteered to make you smile. Crime?

The point of this was to spread a little Christmas cheer. If we did that (and yes, I was one of them), then our mission was accomplished! It was tremendous fun, and definitely NOT a publicity stunt. No one even said who organized it. Merry Christmas!

flash mob was not the point and you'd never get it anyway. thank you to those that performed to unsuspecting mallers. Merry Christmas anyway
says ... on Monday, Dec 20 at 6:28 PM
I wish I had been there!

this isnt a flash mob
says ... on Monday, Dec 20 at 4:52 PM
wonderful and fun...we need more of this sort of generous community spirit.
says ... on Monday, Dec 20 at 4:52 PM
A flash mob does not have an instructor. All they did was pack a choir into the food court. Not creative at all.
says ... on Monday, Dec 20 at 4:39 PM
Iowa doesn't flash mobs like it's 2005
says ... on Monday, Dec 20 at 3:55 PM
To all you Scrooges and Grinches that want to steal my Christmas ..get a life..That was awsome and I'm only sorry I wasn't there to hear it live. As the saying goes "if you can't say something nice....... SHUT UP"! Merry Christmas to all

Wow- to the people who are negative about this. If the media would have called it "a large group of talented people singing Christmas songs in a mall, this is not a Flashmob" been better? Would you like it then or does nothing really make you happy?
says ... on Monday, Dec 20 at 3:24 PM
That was a sorry attempt at being a flashmob. More like giant group of carolers hit a dead mall. Pathetic!
says ... on Monday, Dec 20 at 3:04 PM
I thought it was great. Would have liked closer lok at the singers
says ... on Monday, Dec 20 at 2:54 PM
This is great but the version that has 23 million hits on youtube, is super; just search,'Christmas Food Court Flash Mob Hallelujah Chorus'.

Definitions of Flash mob on the Web: •A flash mob (or flashmob) is a large group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, perform an unusual and pointless act for a brief time, then quickly disperse. The term flash mob is generally appli

I would have been more impressed seeing them lining a busy street. The vocals are beautiful, but in the end, it's a huge group of people in a mall, caroling. It's not a flash mob.
says ... on Monday, Dec 20 at 2:25 PM
Seriously, doesn't matter if it was planned or staged. Can't you just enjoy it? Could you be any more negative? Shame on you
says ... on Monday, Dec 20 at 2:23 PM
Ummmmm..... This was definitely NOT a flashmob.
says ... on Monday, Dec 20 at 2:20 PM
great job!
says ... on Monday, Dec 20 at 2:02 PM
Sounds great, but why would any adult musician need to hold sheet music for this???
says ... on Monday, Dec 20 at 1:58 PM
Beautiful! It gave me goosebumps!
says ... on Monday, Dec 20 at 1:55 PM
This is not what a real flash mob is!
says ... on Monday, Dec 20 at 12:13 PM
It really wasn't very original, but hey, if a director and musicians with music want to sing in the mall, all be it! Too bad there can't be that many people in that food court all the time. I was there Saturday, 1:30, and it was pretty empty. Sad.
says ... on Monday, Dec 20 at 10:45 AM
This was far from a publicity stunt. Why would anyone want to think that and spread by an email. Why can't people just sit back and enjoy the wonderful gift people were giving of their voices and Christmas spirit.
says ... on Monday, Dec 20 at 10:22 AM
Joke - You are a humbug!
says ... on Monday, Dec 20 at 9:49 AM
It was fun, AWESOME!! This is what Christmas is all about. It didn't cost anyone anything. Just a few minutes of beauty.
says ... on Monday, Dec 20 at 9:36 AM
Well, it DID demonstrate the remarkably talented (all volunteer) musical community of Cedar Rapids. And hopefully it brought in added business for the mall, which agreed to let us use their space on a day when they didn't need extra traffic.
says ... on Monday, Dec 20 at 9:22 AM
Just enjoy it for what it was -- lots of wonderful singers performing an amazing piece of art -- beautifullly done! Thanks to all who participated!
says ... on Monday, Dec 20 at 8:27 AM
**advertise
says ... on Monday, Dec 20 at 8:26 AM
how is it a publicity stunt when there was nothing to advertize? yeah it wasn't everyone comes running in and dances, but i would say the average age of the singers was mid to late 50's. It was amazing, and I was glad to be a part of it!
says ... on Monday, Dec 20 at 1:18 AM
Not sure why this looked like a publicity stunt. Our church choir learned about it from a forwarded email. There was no rehearsal. It was a group of people who saw an email or heard about it by word of mouth and decided to show up and sing.
says ... on Monday, Dec 20 at 12:36 AM
Would be nice if someone had an orignal idea. LOL I'm not sure if anyone knows what a flashmob is, but by definition a flashmob is not a publicity stunt, as this one obviously was. Nice try.
says ... on Monday, Dec 20 at 12:12 AM
Jason Fuemmeler was directing.
says ... on Sunday, Dec 19 at 11:56 PM
A great big THANK YOU!!! Great Post. Ole`
says ... on Sunday, Dec 19 at 11:54 PM
That was wonderful. The performance was superior to the one filmed at the Washington Square mall, wherever that was. Who was directing the mob, and who on earth were those sopranoes?? Thank you. No bah humbugs at the mall any more with Flashmob!
