This sun halo was captured from Bowman Woods Park in Cedar Rapids at 5:30 PM, Tuesday, October 19, 2010. A high-flying aircraft produced the contrail seen at center. Sun haloes are caused by refracted light passing through ice crystals in cirrus clouds.
