With temps in the low 80s, thunderstorms began firing up in a diagonal line across Iowa around 5:00 PM, Tuesday, October 12. Pics 1 & 2 show approaching storm clouds as seen in the northwest sky at Bowman Woods Park in Cedar Rapids between 5:30 and 6:00 PM. Pic 3 looks southwest at a cloud with a golden lining and an upward-shooting beam-- both caused by the hidden sun. The summer-like storm arrived at Bowman Woods Park around 6:00 PM.
