TV9 First Alert Storm Team Weather Academy

By Becky Ogann

The KCRG-TV9 First Alert Storm Team Weather Academy is a fun and educational program aimed at teaching youngsters about how the weather works and how to stay safe from it when it turns bad. Since 2002, the KCRG-TV9 First Alert Storm Team has reached over 10,000 students through visits to Eastern Iowa elementary schools. The goal is to reach every student in Eastern Iowa.

The 2007-2008 school year promises to be just as exciting with school visits and the release of a KCRG-TV9 Weather Academy DVD.

At this time, the KCRG-TV9 First Alert Storm Team is planning on visiting 20 elementary schools prior to the start of Iowa's severe weather season in late winter 2008. The schools have been picked and the First Alert Storm Team is excited about schools that applied! Stay tuned for a Weather Academy Blog as we visit the 20 schools!
