WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) — Iowa authorities say they’ve removed a 7-foot boa constrictor that was found on a city street in Waterloo.
Police received a call Monday morning that the reptile was near the San Souci Bridge. Animal control later picked it up.
A veterinarian and a University of Northern Iowa reptile expert have determined the snake is ill. It is being housed by Waterloo animal control but may be turned over to wildlife rehabilitation specialists if its condition doesn’t improve. It’s unclear what ails the snake.
Waterloo city officials say it’s a violation of a city ordinance to have a snake of that size within city limits.
Police are unsure where the snake came from or how it got in the road.
