Hillary Clinton Brings Out her Husband for a Boost in Iowa

By Becky Ogann

DES MOINES (AP) - Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton and her husband continue their trek across Iowa, focusing on lifting her candidacy in an early voting state described by one aide as her weakest.

The Clintons, dubbed, ‘Billary’, are spending three days in Iowa, with events from a rally at the University of Iowa Tuesday to a July 4th parade in Clear Lake on Wednesday.

The Clintons arrived last night for a rally at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines. It was the first time they appeared together in one of the early nominating states that are the focus of the 2008 race since she entered it.

Bill Clinton says he's backing his wife because she is the most qualified, not because of any spousal obligation.

Clinton leads the Democratic field in most polls, but she has yet to break out from rival John Edwards in Iowa, which is scheduled to hold the nation's first presidential caucus on January 14th.
