JOHNSON COUNTY, Iowa - Friday law officers in Johnson County sounded off for charity, encouraging Walmart shoppers to donate to the Special Olympics of Iowa.

They stood on podiums outside Wal Mart stores in Coralville and Iowa City.

University of Iowa fraternity members helped collect donations.

One volunteer said it's worth standing in the heat all day to raise money for a good cause.

"I've been doing this 19 years and I can't think of a better charity, this is law enforcements charity, we carry the torch for them and we support them," said Sgt. Rod Rhiner.

Officers will be outside the Johnson County Wal Mart stores raising money all weekend.
