CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- It’s been a tough stretch for the Kernels, who had lost seven of their last eight games.
They’re hoping a 5-4 win against the Quad Cities on Wednesday, keyed by a triple from Cedar Rapids native Chad Christensen, starts to turn things around.
“We’ve had a lot of injuries, no doubt about it,” manager Jake Mauer said. “Losing four starting players in the first month didn’t help too much. We’ve had a lot of different faces. But we need to start right now, and in this game things can turn around in one day.
“Hopefully we can start our second half today.”
