Regina Players Not Feeling Pressure From Winning Streak

IOWA CITY -- Perhaps no team in the state has as much pressure to succeed as Regina. The Regals own the state record with 56 straight wins and during that streak, they’ve learned how to handle the sky high expectations.

“We don’t really think too much about it,” senior Jake Brinkman said. “We just go out and practice. We don’t feel like it’s a requirement or any pressure to do it and it’s something we have to deal with, an adversity we have to deal with but it’s fun I guess.”

“I’m just worried about this season,” Phil Arendt said. “The winning streak doesn’t really matter. It’s just these 14 games that count.”

The Regals certainly have the pieces in place to make a run at a fifth straight title with guys like Arendt, Brinkman and Cook helping to lead the way.

Another advantage Regina has over most teams is in the kicking game. Former TV-9 Athlete of the Week Jacob Adam is back after an outstanding junior season.

If the Regals hope to complete a fifth straight perfect season they’ll certainly have to earn it, especially with the non-district schedule they’ve put together.
