Iowa football player charged after fight at Pancheros
Nico Law with disorderly conduct after an early morning

IOWA CITY Iowa football player Nico Law has been charged with a simple misdemeanor in connection with an early Saturday morning fight outside of Pancheros on Clinton Street.
According to an Iowa City Police complaint, officers were called to a fight outside the restaurant about 1:45 a.m. Saturday. Multiple witnesses identified an alleged victim who allegedly had been jumped from behind. The complaint said the unnamed victim was allegedly punched, tackled, and then kicked by Law while he was on the ground.
Witnesses described the alleged attacker, but the victim identified Law by name, the complaint said. Law was found one block south of the altercation.
The alleged victim told police he was jumped from behind after a verbal altercation between him and Law’s female friend.
Law was cited for disorderly conduct.
Iowa football coach Kirk Ferentz released a statement Saturday.
I was disappointed to hear of the incident involving Nico, he said. We will work with authorities in gathering the facts. Nico will go through the UI Student-Athlete Code of Conduct process and we will move forward from there.
Law, who will be a senior this fall, played in all of the 13 games last year. The defensive back recorded four solo tackles and one assist
