A great fishing trip doesn’t mean a long trip to the north woods. There’s a fishing hole just north of downtown Cedar Rapids that fits Tim Moran just fine.
“I fish for bass and crappie and there are a lot of northerns,” Moran said. “So, it’s pretty exciting from time to time.”
On summer days, you can usually find Moran wetting a line in Cedar Lake. He said size and quanitiy of fish deminished after the floods, but good bass can still be found.
“In the spring, when they were feeding pre-spawn, I was catching about 20 a day and they were three or four pound average.”
Moran said the water at the spillway of Cedar Lake is highly oxygenated, making for a more favorable place for fish to be.
