Woman Convicted of Murder for Des Moines Stabbing

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — A woman has been convicted of stabbing to death a 28-year-old man in Des Moines last year.

The Des Moines Register says 22-year-old Miranda Rose Petithory Metcalf was found guilty of second-degree murder on Monday. Prosecutors say she stabbed Juan Carlos Chavarria. Officers found his body in an apartment on Nov. 29. He died later at a hospital.

Online court records say the defendant also is known as Miranda Rose Louise. Her sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 5.
