A once popular waterpark is back open under new management after state officials shut it down last fall.
The Wasserbahn Waterpark was approved to reopen by health officials last month. The park was closed indefinitely last September after numerous ongoing violations, the Department of Public health said at the time.
Since then there have been numerous equipment upgrades and efforts to clean-up the overall facility, new owner Yule Park said.
I think we can rejuvenate the life back here, bring more people and show we care, said Park.
Park moved with his wife and 3-year-old daughter from California to Iowa to take on the challenge of reopening the facility. He has no connection to previous owners and believes this will be a good business and real estate opportunity.
This is a great opportunity, not just for us, but to get the community back and get this how it used to be, Park said.
The waterpark is currently open in the afternoons to hotel guests and those who trickle in throughout the day, extended hours are offered on the weekends. A grand re-opening will be held sometime after Labor Day.
