Waterloo Church Still Cleaning Up After Burglary

By Forrest Saunders

WATERLOO, Iowa — Clean up continues after a burglary more than three weeks ago at a Waterloo church.

Police said May 31st, four males shattered a glass door to get in the Burton Avenue Baptist Church. Inside they smashed and stole electronics, busted door locks, and tore up rooms.

To make things worse, vandals sprayed seven fire extinguishers in the church leaving white powder almost everywhere.

Church officials don’t know how much longer it will take to fix everything. They said insurance has approved $400,000 for repairs.

“The Bible makes it clear that everybody is a sinner. Not everybody knows Jesus Christ is their personal savior. Man at his worst can do some pretty serious things,” said Garry Moore, the church’s pastor.

Waterloo police are asking for the public’s help to identify the four males. Anyone who can identify them can call the Cedar Valley Crime Stoppers at 855-300-TIPS (8477).
