WATERLOO, Iowa - Cleanup crews in Waterloo are working on a downtown block after a building collapsed Saturday night.
The owner of the vacant building in the 300 block of West 4th Street says he planned to take the fašade down next week.
Crews had placed barricades *around the base* of the building prior to the collapse.
The owner told the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier he wants to turn the building into apartments.
Debris from the collapse damaged the back of a nearby building with at least 2 occupied apartments. Fire crews were inspecting the apartments to see if residents could return.
There were no injuries.
