BRANDON, Iowa — Rescue crews pulled Jennifer Frye, 42, of Garrison, out of the water alive at the Cedar River in Benton County Saturday night.

Crews from the Benton County Sheriff’s Office and other agencies responded to a report of a missing person on the Cedar River about a half mile south of Benton-Buchanan Road about 7 p.m. Saturday.

Investigators say 35-year-old Trent Hoppe of Garrison and Frye were camping along the Cedar River when she swam off without a life jacket and was gone for 25-30 minutes.

Crews were able to get her out uninjured by 7:19 p.m. She declined medical treatment.

Officers arrested Frye and Hoppe on public intoxication charges.
