Washington Police SUV Hit During Robbery Investigation

WASHINGTON, Iowa — Washington Police responded to a report of a burglary on Larch Avenue around 1:20 Saturday morning.

Witnessed described two people leaving a home in the 2200 block of Larch Avenue in a GMC Yukon. According to a release from the Washington County Communications Center, the Yukon hit a Chevy Tahoe belonging to Washington Police as the suspects tried to get away.

Law enforcement captured one of the suspects immediately after the crash, and a K9 officer found the second after searching the area.

Donald King, 39, and Mark Grimes, 26, are both from Centralia, Illinois and face 3rd degree burglary and trespass charges. Online records indicate both remained in the Washington County Jail as of Sunday afternoon.

A judge set bail for each at $25,000.

Law enforcement say there were no injuries in the case, but one officer was evaluated and released from Washington County Hospital.
