MOUNT VERNON, Iowa (AP) — U.S. Trade Representative Michael Froman will join others at a forum in Mount Vernon focused on increasing export opportunities for rural businesses and farmers.

Froman will be the keynote speaker at the White House Rural Council’s “Made In Rural America Regional Forum” at Cornell College on Friday.

The White House notes that U.S. businesses have generated record exports for four straight years, and that Iowa is the country’s second largest exporter of agricultural products.

The National Association of Counties and Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance are hosting the event with support from the White House Domestic Policy Council and other state and federal organizations.
