IOWA CITY, Iowa - Iowa basketball player Peter Jok pleaded guilty Friday in Johnson County District Court to charges of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and requested a deferred judgment.
Jok, who averaged 4.4 points per game while playing in 27 games last season, was stopped by police for making an improper turn on his moped at 2:43 a.m. last Saturday. His blood alcohol level was measured at .087, according to police reports.
With the deferred judgment, the freshman from West Des Moines would be on probation for six months, must complete an alcohol counseling program and substance abuse evaluation, and pay a fine and court costs. If he fulfills all the requirements, the charges will be dismissed.
A judge will make the determination of whether he gets a deferred judgement.
