CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — A confirmed tornado was reported near Reinbeck southeast toward Traer earlier this evening. Another possible touchdown was reported southwest of Garrison.
Several trained storm spotters reported a tornado on the ground and KCRG-TV9 viewers sent numerous photos showing a tornado.
The Grundy County Sheriff’s Office reported damage to 2 homes on U Avenue just west of Reinbeck, saying one home took a “major hit” but no one was hurt.
“One person that was in a wheel chair and could not escape and the roof came down around him but he was fine,” said Chief Deputy Tim Wolthoff.
The Grundy County Sheriff’s Office says it was monitoring the storm and tracking the tornado as it came towards town but is now asking people to stay away form the area where the tornado hit.
