Third Trial Set to Begin in Iowa Murder Case
OTTUMWA, Iowa (AP) An Iowa man accused of killing his wife and unborn child is set to begin his third murder trial in the case next week.
Seth Techel is charged with first-degree murder in the May 2012 death of his wife, Lisa Techel. She was found shot in the couple’s Agency trailer in southeast Iowa. Seth Techel is also charged in the death of the unborn child. He has said an intruder shot his wife.
Both of Techel’s murder trials have ended in a mistrial. Des Moines television station KCCI reports that his third trial is set to begin Monday in Davenport.
The Iowa Supreme Court in April rejected a bid by Techel to have his $750,000 cash bond reduced pending trial. He remains jailed.
