Texas Gov. Perry Returns to Iowa

By Chris Earl. KCRG-TV9

ALGONA, Iowa — Three summers ago, Rick Perry announced from Iowa that he was running for president.

Yet, within weeks of his August 2011 entry, he fell from first place to well back in the pack of Republicans before the 2012 primaries and caucuses.

The Texas Governor is back in Iowa this weekend, meeting with people in Algona and Clear Lake.

In May, Perry was in Hiawatha campaigning for Senate candidate Matt Whitaker before the June 3 primary.

Perry has not said yet if he’s running for 2016 but he has been raising money for Republican candidates.

Perry finished fifth in the Iowa Republican caucuses.
