Swimming Advisory Issued for Northern Iowa Lake

Associated Press

HAMPTON, Iowa (AP) — Officials have issued a swimming advisory for Beeds Lake in the northern Iowa community of Hampton.

The state Department of Natural Resources says a recent water sample collected at the state park exceeded standard levels for E. coli.

The Mason City Globe Gazette reports the water is not closed for swimming. But officials say the advisory is a warning for visitors to take additional precautions, including showering shortly after swimming and avoiding lake water ingestion.
