Severe Weather Possible in Iowa, Eastern Nebraska on Sunday

  • Photo

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Forecasters warn that strong storms and possibly tornadoes are possible in Iowa and eastern Nebraska Sunday evening.

The National Weather Service says there is a moderate risk of severe weather in Iowa and eastern Nebraska.

Forecasters say the main threat Sunday night will be strong winds, but large hail and even tornadoes are possible.

At 4:05 p.m., the National Weather Service issued a tornado watch for parts of Iowa, Nebraska and Missouri that extends eastward to Polk and Story counties, including the cities of Ames and Des Moines. The watch lasts until 11 p.m.

Some areas may receive heavy rain, so flash flooding is also a concern.
