WATERLOO, Iowa — Officers with the Waterloo Police Department’s VCAT unit made a second arrest following a weapons investigation on Logan Avenue Tuesday.

On Wednesday, police said they arrested Juwon Culpepper following an investigation. When they took Culpepper into custody, police found a handgun on him. Culpepper was later named as a suspect in a shooting on Logan Avenue on Monday. No one was hurt in that shooting.

Police say while they were arresting Culpepper Tuesday, they saw several subjects who had been with Culpepper enter the Logan Avenue Convenience Store. One of those suspects has been identified as 26-year-old Donquavious Davis. When officers searched the store they found a loaded handgun hidden in the bathroom. The bathroom was closed for renovations so officers viewed the store’s surveillance video,

Police say the video showed Davis quickly enter the bathroom and leave a short time later. Officers took Davis into custody in the 700 block of Logan Avenue on Wednesday.

Davis is charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm and carrying weapons. He is being held in the Black Hawk County Jail on those charges, as well as for violating a parole warrant stemming from previous felony firearm and drug convictions.
