Puppy Possibly Stolen from Burlington Shelter

By Associated Press

BURLINGTON, Iowa (AP) - Officials at a Burlington animal shelter say a puppy is missing from its facility, and they believe he was stolen.

The Burlington Animal Shelter says the 8-week old Chihuahua mix named Dipstick was reported missing Friday. He remains missing as of Tuesday afternoon.

Marie Kelly, an assistant manager, tells the Burlington Hawk Eye that officials believe the dog was stolen. Staffers say they did not see any suspicious activity at the facility Friday.

Dipstick was recently used to promote an annual event in Burlington that promotes pet adoptions. Police say there are no suspects in the case at this time.
