Waterloo Recruiting Volunteer Police Officers

WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) — Waterloo area residents are being encouraged to apply to be volunteer police officers.

The volunteers will have the opportunity to become reserve officers with the Waterloo Police Department if they are accepted.

The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports applicants who are accepted into the program will receive more than 200 hours of local training and more than 160 hours of field training to meet Iowa standards.

The applicants also must be at least 21, hold a high school diploma and have a valid driver’s license.
