TIPTON, Iowa — The Cedar County Sheriff’s Office responded around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a person knocking on doors in the area of Jackson Avenue and Jackson Road.
A deputy found a car in the Red Oak public hunting area, which drove away as he approached.
The driver fled on foot after a short chase, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.
It identified him as 32-year-old Daniel Beeding, of Wapello.
On Thursday, dispatchers received reports of someone matching his discription acting strange and asking to use a cell phone.
He was spotted around 11:30 a.m. in Tipton, but escaped from law enforcement.
Deputies located him again after a report of someone knocking on doors in the 1300 block of Logan Avenue south of Tipton. Beeding was seen running into a corn field and was arrested in the 900 block of Cedar Valley Road, which is about two miles west of the corn field.
He was transported to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics by a Louisa County deputy, but the release did not specify why. Cedar County Sheriff Warren Wethington cited HIPPA, a set of rules governing the privacy of medical information, as a reason he could not go into why the suspect was wanted.
