GUTTENBERG, Iowa — Firefighters from three departments responded to a reported explosion at a home around 6:20 p.m. Wednesday.

Personnel arrived in the 100 block of Garber Road to find a two-story home on fire after what appeared to be an explosion.

Authorities called the Iowa State Fire Marshall’s Office because no witnesses were present at the time and the fire’s suspicious nature, according to a release from Guttenberg Fire Chief Chad Esmann.

Investigators say the cause of the explosion and fire are undetermined as of Wednesday night, but were able to locate the fire’s origin. However, the release did not specify that location.

The home’s owner, Susan Bartz, was not home at the time of the explosion and no injuries were reported.

The Garber and Garnavillo Fire Departments also responded to the scene.
