Eight fire departments respond to Crawfordsville confinement fire

CRAWFORDSVILLE — Washington County dispatchers received a report of a hog confinement building on fire in the 2800 block of Yucca Avenue around 11:40 Thursday morning.

Crews from eight departments responded to fight the fire on property belonging to JDL Farms, including Kalona, Riverside and Washington. Ainsworth and Crawfordsville firefighters remained on the scene for more than four hours, according to a release from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators were still looking into how the fire started as of 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

No injuries were reported.
