DUNKERTON (AP) — The Dunkerton City Council has placed the northeast Iowa city’s police chief on leave until an investigation is completed.
The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports the council voted unanimously to take the action Monday night after a private meeting.
Police Chief Tim Schultz will remain on administrative leave pending an investigation and hearing.
Schultz and Mayor Edward Jessen declined to discuss the matter.
The council took the action after former City Council member Dennis Manahl spoke during a public comment period and asked the mayor about the alleged misuse of a city credit card and whether the matter had been referred to the state auditor
Jessen didn’t respond to those questions.
After the meeting, Jessen said city officials will handle the investigation.
